She joined the lab as an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) recipient in the summers of 2025 and 2026 at Memorial University, Canada. Under the supervision of Dr. Baiyu Helen Zhang and in collaboration with Xueyan Xu, a PhD student at NRPOP, Megan has contributed to research on environmental contaminants and microalgal carbon fixation. Student<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway<\/p>\n<p>vilde.kolle@nmbu.no<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vilde Kolle, a final-year Master\u2019s student at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), specializes in organic analytical chemistry. She spent six months in NRPOP Lab as a visiting research student, focusing on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the Arctic.<\/p>\n<p>Vilde was co-supervised by Dr. Roland Kallenborn (NMBU) and Dr. Bing Chen (Memorial University), and her research visit was part of the ArcSolution project, funded through the EU Horizon Programme. During her stay in Canada, Vilde analyzed environmental samples from the Yellowknife area of Arctic Canada, gaining advanced hands-on experience with HPLC-QqQ instrumentation. Her work involved optimizing analytical methods and conducting advanced data processing to improve the detection and quantification of emerging contaminants.
