Anran Wang received a Master’s degree in Environmental and Energy Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2020. From 2020 to 2023, she worked at CEC, where she was involved in the process design of ultrapure water equipment for semiconductor chips and the research and development of advanced oxidation processes for chip wastewater. In September 2023, she began a Ph.D. program in Civil (Environmental) Engineering at the NRPOP Lab, Memorial University of Newfoundland, under the supervision of Dr. Baiyu Zhang. Anran’s research interests focus on the interactions between microplastics and chemical additives, with particular emphasis on their release, environmental transformation, and associated toxicity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Hongyi is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Zhang at the NRPOP Lab, Memorial University of Newfoundland, NL, Canada. His research focuses on the environmental fate and biodegradation of novel energy fuel spills in marine and freshwater systems. Recently, he investigated the biodegradation pathways, marine oil snow formation, and aquatic toxicity of wood oil spills in marine environments under fresh, weathered, and chemically dispersed conditions. Lee Britton obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Physical Geography focusing on Coastal Geomorphology from the University of Victoria, B.C. Canada in 2015. In 2017, He completed a Master of Applied Science (M.Sc.) in Physical Geography, focusing on the subdisciplines of Coastal Geomorphology and Hydrology from the University of Victoria, B.C. Canada. He is currently working towards completing a Doctorate (Ph.D.) within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, supervised by Dr. Bing Chen in NRPOP Lab, Memorial University of Newfoundland, NL, Canada. Lee’s research focuses on the fate and effects of oil spills, explicitly focusing on understanding the interactions between oil and sediment on marine shorelines, minimizing its impacts and better planning and preparing for such events. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Runbo Yuan obtained his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 2019 and his M.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering in 2020, both from the University of Sheffield, UK. During his master’s studies, he focused on the degradation of trace metal ions in water using geopolymers. He then joined the CEC Environmental Research Institute as an R&D engineer, where he specialized in the application of advanced oxidation processes (AOP) involving ozone and ultraviolet light for the deep degradation of organic pollutants in ultrapure water. In September 2023, he began his Ph.D. program at the NRPOP Lab at Memorial University of Newfoundland under the supervision of Dr. Bing Chen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Zhe Wang is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research focuses on biochar based materials and microbial systems for soil remediation, with particular emphasis on the removal of organic contaminants and the improvement of soil nutrient availability. His work integrates environmental microbiology, material characterization, and advanced oxidation processes to investigate the interactions among biochar, functional microorganisms, iron based materials, and contaminants in complex soil environments. His broader research interests include sustainable soil remediation, environmental materials, and contaminant transformation mechanisms.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Ende Lin received his bachelor’s degree from Hohai University, China. After graduating from university, he worked as a hydraulic designer at the Hunan Water Resources and Hydropower Survey, Design, Planning and Research CO.,LTD. for four years. During his work, he participated in projects such as river regulation, reservoir risk prevention and reinforcement, pumping stations, urban flood control and drainage, and Irrigation Engineering. He has experience in hydraulic structure design and hydrological analysis. In May 2024, he started his master’s degree under the guidance of Dr. Bing Chen. Currently, Lin Ende is researching physical and numerical simulation of coastal pollution.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
