Hongbing Dan is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Memorial University. He received dual bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Arts from Anhui University of Science and Technology, China, in June 2018, and earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering from Shandong University, China, in June 2025. His previous research focused primarily on wastewater treatment, including adsorption, Fenton-like oxidation, and solar-driven evaporation; oil–water interfacial chemistry, including emulsion separation and Pickering emulsion catalysis; and the design and fabrication of superwetting surfaces, including super-hydrophobic, super-hydrophilic, and super-amphiphilic surfaces.

His current research focuses on the environmental fate, transport, and transformation of persistent and emerging organic contaminants in cold regions, with particular emphasis on contaminant behavior and transformation processes under cryospheric conditions.
