B.E., M.Sc., Ph.D
Xing Song obtained his B.E. and M.Sc. degrees in environmental sciences from Jilin University, China in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
In September 2013, he started pursuing his Ph.D degree in civil engineering under the supervision of Dr Baiyu (Helen), Zhang. At present, he works as a researcher in the NRPOP lab. His research focuses on the identification and characterization of spilled oil treated by chemical and bio-dispersant in marine environment.
Achivement
1. Over 24 peer-reviewed international journal publications, including 8 first (co-first) authors; 8 papers published in the top journals in the field (8 of 22), such as Environ. Sci. Technol., Water Res., J. Hazard. Mater., and Appl. Environ. Microbiol.
2. Over 12 presentations at international conferencesProfound teaching experience for undergraduate and graduate courses (CEQ rating: 4.5/5.0) and extensive HQP (over 10 HQP) training experience in environmental science and engineering
3. Participation in over 10 multiple levels (international, national, provincial, and industrial) projects (e.g., UNDP, MPRI, NSERC; over $5 million), and over 25 proposal writings (successful grants: over $3 million)
4. Multiple-years collaborations with Canada Light Source (MID-IR) as the main spokesman of the proposals
