Jing Ping graduated from Changsha University of Science & Technology (China) with a bachelor of environmental science and technology degree in 2005. She joined the MESEM program at MUN in November 2005. From 2007 to 2008, she obtained her M.Eng degree in environmental engineering discipline under the co-supervision of Drs. Bing Chen and Tahir Husain. She started pursuing her PhD degree in environmental engineering from January 2009 under the same supervision. In the past three years, she involved in several research projects, leading to 12 refereed conference/journal papers and project reports based on her research findings.

She has strong research skills and work experience in supporting environmental decision making, environmental policy and regulation, ecosystem/human health risk assessment, waste management, ambient air quality management, offshore oil and gas pollution prevention, control and remediation, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) monitoring technology, field survey, and experimental design.She was awarded the title of the “Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies” of Memorial University in May 2009 and selected as the winner of “F. A. Aldrich Graduate Award” in September 2009 in recognition of her academic performance. As a graduate student group leader in the NRPOP lab, her responsibilities included: lab construction, budget allocation, communication with mechanical/electrical technicians and business representatives, lab instruments/facilities ordering and tuning, training graduate students in field and providing research support for a series of lab/field group projects.
