B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Eng., Ph.D Candidate
Liang Jing obtained his B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from Tsinghua University in China. He graduated from Memorial University with M.A.Sc. and M.Eng. degrees in Environmental Systems Engineering and Management (2006) and Environmental Engineering (2009), respectively. After working as a research and project engineer for six months, Liang Jing started his PhD study in May 2010.
He have a strong background in environmental engineering and advanced skills in mathematical modeling, as evident by his participation in over 10 research projects and his publications in both peer-reviewed journals (11 papers) and referred conferences (12 papers). In September 2011, He received the RDC Ocean Industry Student Research Award to continue his PhD studies. As a PhD candidate, Liang’s research interests revolve around marine oily wastewater treatment and management for the shipping and oil and gas industries. Offshore oil and gas exploration and development in the North Atlantic and Arctic will be vastly expanding in the next few decades, so will the associated shipping activities. It is always good to be cautious and well prepared when heading to the north where ecosystems are extremely fragile.
