The Northern Region Persistent Organic Pollution Control (NRPOP) Laboratory proudly congratulates Junzhang Chen on receiving the Outstanding Teaching Assistant (TA) Award 2026 from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University of Newfoundland for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The Outstanding TA Award recognizes graduate students who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to teaching, student support, and academic mentorship within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Up to five awards are presented annually following the Winter semester, with recipients selected through a competitive nomination and dossier evaluation process.
Eligibility for the award requires sustained teaching assistant experience across multiple courses over at least two years, along with strong evidence of teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and professional contribution to the learning environment. The evaluation process includes samples of TA work, summaries of student evaluations, letters of support from instructors and students, and additional evidence of outstanding performance and contribution to teaching.
Throughout his teaching assistantship, Junzhang has supported several engineering courses by providing academic guidance, assignment and examination support, structured student communications, and proactive learning assistance. His contributions have focused on enhancing student understanding, reducing uncertainty in coursework expectations, and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for engineering students.
The NRPOP Lab extends its sincere congratulations to Junzhang Chen on this well-deserved recognition and wishes him continued success in his academic, teaching, and professional endeavours.
